Collaboration between Jihadists Groups In North Africa Threatens More Terror Attacks For 2016

A couple of days ago I stumbled across one of the most idiotically self righteous posts I have ever seen. A 'liberal blogger' had written a vicious attack on Americas who support Donald Trump combined with a hymn of praise to Islam as the self styled 'religion of peace'.

The author (I'm not going to give him a link, he does not deserve it) is, like myself, British. Now apart from the fact that British bloggers should not get involved in American election politics because we don't see a true picture of the candidates and don't have a vote in US elections, (and for the record I wouldn't vote for Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio even if I could,) not only was the writer of the article wrong and uninformed in calling Trump supporters ignorant and fascist, his praise of Islam as the 'religion of peace' rested on an entirely false and anachronistic premise.

He cited in support of his argument the medieval principal that when a traveller turned up at your door seeking shelter, an honourable person would treat the visitor as an honoured guest rather than a supplicant. Where he was wrong lay in his describing this as something exclusive to Islam.

In fact, when the world was only sparsely populated, the virtue of hospitality was common to all early civilisations, the Greeks, European Pagans, the Zoroastrians of Assyria and Persia, Hindus in India, the Celtic and Gothic cultures, throughout north Africa and Asia, the whole of the known world in fact, and for several thousand years before Mohammed created the Muslim religion. So in fact his claim that only the Islamic faith could create such generosity of spirit was wholly false.

Now let's look at a new aspect of the threat to civilised values emanating from 'The Religion Of Peace'.

Although there has traditionally been deadly rivalry among the various jihadist groups operating in North Africa (mostly in the deserts of Libya since the Obama - led humanitarian bombing campaign turned that once prosperous country into a failed state) , new alliances being formed among the different flavours of radical Islam have resulted in collaboration, better organisation and a more coordinated approach to public relations and propaganda. These developments surely carry a warning of more trouble for European and American nations with large Muslim immigrant communities and 'open doors' border control policies. Politicians babble about the war on terror, it's time they realised it is a serious problem, not just a convenient topic for campaign speeches.

According to reports like this one in The New York Times, the growing unity among jihadist factions has led to increased sharing of communications technology and a "sophisticated system of roving trainers to share military tactics, media strategies and ways of transferring money without attracting the attention of the US - UK internet surveillance system."

As long ago as March 2015, Nigerian terrorist group Boko Haram took up the the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) banner, adopting the name, “Islamic State West Africa Province,” or ISWAP. The title change is more than semantic, it links the radical Islamist forces in Africa and the Middle East.

In October, Nigerian news site Today reported, Boko Haram reached out to the Somali jihadist organization al-Shabaab,urging it to follow suit and switch its loyalty from al-Qaeda to the Islamic State, which part of the group eventually did.

Earlier in the year, ISIS approached al-Shabaab, encouraging leaders of the group to launch attacks “inside Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia.”

Al-Qaeda has been active in Libya since the 1990s, but has not opposed the arrival of Islamic State in the region.

In mid-December, 2015, the government of Saudi Arabia, along with the USA a major sponsor of ISIS, took a break from recreational beheading tournaments to announce the creation of a coalition of 34 countries to wage war against terrorism, with Morocco emerging as regional leader.

Philip Luther, Amnesty International’s Middle East and North Africa director, said the Saudis were using “the guise of counter-terrorism” to quash political dissent, while Amnesty International said it appeared the kingdom was "using execution to settle political scores."

Saudi Arabia’s execution of a prominent Shiite cleric and 46 other men on Saturday January 2, in the name of a crackdown on Islamist terrorism, has been criticized as needlessly provocative. This blog has always maintained that as far as the Obama Administration in Washington and their main middle eastern ally, the Royal House of Saud in Riyhad are concerned, Sunni Muslims can do no wrong while Shia' Alawite, Yazidi and Ahmadiyyas are heretics and terrorists. Given the bloody and brutal conflicts between these sects and their various offshoots, anyone who claims impartial objectivity and then describes 'Islam' as a whole as The Religion Of Peace is not just ill informed, he is uninformed and worse, is not prepared to consider any argument that challenges his prejudices.

Are ISIS Terrorists Setting Up Shop On Philippine Island?

On Christmas Eve, an attack by around 300 heavily armed members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) left six farmers in Kauran and four others in neighboring villages in neighboring provinces dead. Anticipating more attacks by the BIFF Muslim terrorists Christian farmers said they felt it necessary to carry guns “to defend ourselves and our communities.” At night, they form groups to patrol the village, protecting families who have left their homes away from the main settlement and are sleeping in the open around the village center due to fear of another attack.

Since the December 24 attack, male villagers are remaining close to their homes and farms at night while women and children and women move to the village hall. Some villagers have fled, taking refuge with relatives in nearby towns in Sultan Kudarat province.

“We have information they may attack again. This time we are ready, we cannot let them kill us doing nothing to defend ourselves,” a man in black shirt and armed with an M-16 told Mindano Island newspaper MindaNews .

"Our farmers want freedom, our farmers just want to work the land, feed their families and send the children to school,” another armed man who was clearly suffering from lack of  sleep said.

 

At night the civilian vigilantes patrolling the village sometimes trade shots with armed men. A local councilman said it really pained him to talk to the families of BIFF victims. “They were all bread winners, they were unarmed, they were ordinary farmers, their families are now orphaned,” he told reporters.

 

“It’s Christmas. It really hurts when we are supposed to celebrate. Now we are mourning the loss of our loved ones,” said the sister of one of the murdered farmers. “Worse, the BIFF rebels were sniping at us as we retrieved the dead bodies. How heartless,” she said.

Yesterday I visited a site to which I have contributed occasionally and came first upon and article that was a totally uncritical and unbalanced article that amounted to a hymn of praise for Islam, "The Religion Of Peace." The smug, self righteous clown who authored and published it did not once mention, the recent Bataclan shootings or Paris suicide bombs. He never referred to the atrocities committed by ISIS or the genocidal campaigns against the Kurds and Yazidi in Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan, or the 9/11 attacks or the bombings in London and Madrid a few years ago.

Instead he attacked people who criticize "The Religion Of Peace" as ignorant bigots and right wing extremists. The greatest weapon Islamic extremists have in their bid to destroy western civilisation is the hatred felt by 'socialists' and 'liberals' in the west for western culture and society. Time we marginalised these people, they have nothing to contribute except their contempt for for their own nation and its people, laws and traditions.

How far up one's own arse must one be to turn a blind eye to the fact that wherever there is conflict in the world, Islamic extremism is at the centre of it. I guess to some people getting a few brownie points off the Politically Correct Thought Police for supporting this week's fashionable cause is more important than trying to be a decent, civilized, fair minded human being.

Inferno at 63-story luxury hotel in Dubai, So Why Did It Not Collapse Like The Twin Towers?

'Address Downtown' a 5-star hotel in Dubai (is there any other kind of hotel in Dubai?) was engulfed in flames on New Year’s Eve as the city authorities firework display lit up the sky. It was not initially clear what caused the fire, which damaged about 20 stories of the building. Burning debris fell from the structure as firefighters struggled to contain the blaze.

City authorities reported 16 people were injured. Firefighters eventually brought the fire under control after the 302-meter tower had been evacuated without loss of life. Dubai Media office posted this tweet:

Naturally this incident has prompted a lot of people to ask why the tower did not collapse like The World Trade Center towers on New York in 2001. There are many possible reasons for this and we will probably never know the complete answer.

Some have pointed out (quite correctly) that 'external' fire has unlimited supply of oxygen whereas 'internal' uncontrolled fire has to struggle for oxygen and dies down when oxygen supply depletes as was the case with fires in WTC 1 and 2. Most officially approved explanations for the Twin Towers (and Tower 7 collapse) however fail to note that the fireball visible outside the South Tower, common sense would suggest, indicated the burning of almost all of the jet fuel outside the tower. Thus official explanations collapse more rapidly than did The Twin Towers themselves.

Other versions of the official narrative tell us "it's what happens when an object as big as a passenger aircraft crashes into a tower building. Oh Yeah? In that case why is the Empire State Building still standing? It should have collapsed when a Boeing B25 Bomber crashed into it in 1945 as you may read on Wikipedia by following the link, or at numerous sources by searching B25 Empire State Building.

And so this latest tall building accident opens old wounds and raises new questions. Mainstream media may be burying the story already but it will run and run in New Media website comment threads.

Crazy Obama Administration Claims It Brought Peace And Security To Syria In 2015

The world has seen through US foreign policy hypocrisy

Senior officials in the Obama administration (a motley crew of cronies, black supremacists, shyster lawyers, traitors, opportunist and general shits) obviously think the general public in western nations as as stupid, infantile and gullible as the former rent boy and alleged law professor who in the seven years he has served as President has repeatedly shown his contempt for the law and the US constitution by trying to rule as an absolute monarch.

The latest comedy caper from The While House circus clowns is a bizarre attempt to claim credit for "bringing peace and security to Syria in 2015," even as that unfortunate nation much of which already lies in ruins after four years of civil war, while what remains is still the scene of brutal conflict between forces loyal to President Assad or sent by allies Russia, China and Iran to prop up his regime, and the US led (incompetently) coalition of 'the willing' which includes the usual suspects, France and Britain (America's partners in the FUKUS axis), with Australia, Canada, The Netherlands, token forces from other European nations who are supposedly fighting Islamic State but really are supporting the efforts of Sunni Muslim dictatorships Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates and NATO member Turkey, supposedly a democratic republic but being turned into a theocratic dictatorship by its corrupt president Recep Erdogan and his money grubbing, terrorist loving, sanctions breaking clan.

State Department official John Kirby raised some eyebrows when he published a summary of 2015 foreign policy "success stories" in which he states the United States has in 2015 brought “peace” and “security” to Syria after "stepping up to the mark" to support that country’s people at a difficult time.
"The United States and many members of the international community have stepped up to aid the Syrian people during their time of need,” wrote Kirby in his laudatory year-in-review released late last week. He went on to claim that “the United States has led the world in humanitarian aid contributions since the crisis began in 2011.
"Led by Secretary Kerry, the United States also continues to push for a political transition in Syria, and under his stewardship, in December, the [United Nations] Security Council passed a U.S.-sponsored resolution that puts forward a roadmap that will facilitate a transition within Syria to a credible, inclusive, nonsectarian government that is responsive to the needs of the Syrian people," the report continued.

Kirby’s declaration of victory did not go unnoticed, with Foreign Policy reporter David Francis writing on Monday: "When it comes to Syria, ‘peace’ and ‘security’ might not be the best choice to describe what the United States delivered there in 2015."

While the Obama team might be able to bodge up some statistics to support the claim, empirical evidence paints a far more bleak picture. The United Nations Security Council reported in August that the Syrian conflict has now killed 250,000 people and displaced 12 million. According to a report released by the UN’s Relief and Works Agency earlier in the year, eight out of ten Syrians were living in poverty in 2014.

What’s more, while the role of U.S.A. in fuelling the rise of ISIS and sponsoring conflict in Syria and Iraq has been irrefutably exposed, the American humanitarian response is falling way short of adequate. The USA has admitted 1,854 Syrian refugees since 2012, and according to the administration, 10,000 will be resettled next fiscal year. As most of the refugees to date have been Syriac Christians, Yazidi or Shia Muslims, we have to wonder if Obama has issues on of his Imperial Edicts that only Sunni Muslim (the Islamic sect conspiracy theorists claim he is a member of) refugees will be accepted by the nation he leads?

The numbers fall well short of calls for the U.S. to resettle at least 100,000 Syrian refugees in the coming year, with some demanding open borders at a time of dramatic human displacement.

In addition, many have argued that U.S. aid donations are dismally inadequate, given the country’s status as the biggest economy in the world.

While aid falls short, U.S. intervention continues to escalate—despite warnings that there is no American military solution.

About the only person who believe the narrative of US victory over ISIS in Syria is the increasingly delusional President Barack Hussein Obama.

‘I helped create ISIS’: Iraq War veteran says US policy caused 'blowback' in Middle East

We have always tried to bring you the news corporate owned mainstream media will not report. Not all of it of course, we are way to small a ... well more a club than an organisation really. What you will find here however is fearless reporting of the real news, the items that should fill front pages and TV news bulletins but that you will never see or hear of from those sources because the truth is often embarrassing for the power elites.

Former US Marine Vincent Emanuele saying he had “helped create ISIS,” in no way contradicts previous reports here that reveal ISIS was a US government promotion. While The Pentagon and the US State Department seeded the Islamist group by sponsoring, arming and training extremist Sunni Muslim groups with the aim of deposing the Syrian president Bashar al Assad, the earlier neo - con regime change war that overthrew Saddam Hussein in Iraq and turned that country into a failed state certainly went a long way towards creating the atmosphere of hate and mistrust in which the rebellion flourished.

It helps also that we now understand how ISIS have been funded with direct help from NATO member Turkey and the involvement of President Erdogan's family in illegal oil trading with the terrorist group.

In speaking out about what really happened during the ten year occupation, the Iraq War veteran and US Marine described the atrocities and criminal activities he and his fellow soldiers engaged in during the Iraq War, claiming they knew it would lead to “blowback” in the Middle East.

This acknowledgement of responsibility comes in an article that was posted on TeleSUR’s English website, in which Emanuele hoped to answer the often raised question of “Where did ISIS come from?”

“When I was stationed in Iraq with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 2003-2005, I didn’t know what the repercussions of the war would be, but I knew there would be a reckoning,” he wrote at TeleSUR. “That retribution, otherwise known as blowback, is currently being experienced around the world (Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, France, Tunisia, California, and so on), with no end in sight.”

Talking to Russia Today, Emanuele said his enlightenment occurred on his second tour of duty to Iraq and was the result of a simple question.

“I saw my fellow Marines kill innocent people, torture innocent civilians, destroying property, mutilating dead bodies, running over dead corpses, laughing and photographing people while doing so,” he said. “For me it was very simple. I sat there in Iraq and I asked myself ‘How would I behave?’ ‘What would I think if I was in the shoes of the Iraqi people?’”

In his article, Emanuele described how he and his platoon literally trashed Mesopotamia by throwing garbage out of their Humvee, and pelting children with Skittles, water bottles full of urine, rocks, and debris. He remembers stories told by soldiers of torture carried out on detainees in makeshift detention facilities.

Emanuele said he began educating himself during his second tour by talking to family and friends and engaging in the work of anti-war activists and intellectuals like Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, and Amy Goodman, as well as learning about the activities of groups such as Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, and Vietnam Veterans against the War. This helped him contextualize his anecdotal experience.

“I knew what I was seeing was wrong, I knew it was immoral, I knew it was unjust, I knew it was illegal,” said Emanuele to RT, “and I knew that we would pay severe consequences in the form of the blowback as we are seeing with groups like ISIS. I knew those things were going to happen back then just from being a self-conscious person.”

Emanuele's version of events is not complete of course, but in the context of how the USA, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have manipulated and controlled the war in Syria up until the intervention of Russia and Iran (legally because it was at the request of the Assad regime, Syria's legitimate government no matter how much Barack Hussein Obama hates them, it helps us understand how a bunch of brutal savages like ISIS could get as much support as they have among the people of Syria and Iraq.

The emergence of Muslim dominated 'no-go' zones or “problem neighbourhoods” or “lawless neighbourhoods” for police and emergency services in Germany over the course of 2015, as a result of the Politically Correct immigration policies of Hausfrau - Volksfuher Merkel has made law enforcement impossible in some areas, according to the latest police reports out of Berlin.

This admission of the existence of no-go zones in Europe, after months of denials from mainstream media and political leaders in Germany, Sweden, France and EU bureaucrats comes from state police in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), a west German state that borders Belgium and the Netherlands. An inquiry led by a Christian Democratic (CDU) politician into the problems of policing immigrant communities has prompted an embarrassing admission of failure by local police to control the situation.

In Federal Germany, state police are responsible for local law enforcement, but can call upon Federal police and appeal to neighbouring states for support. The CDU parliamentary deputy Gregor Golland’s inquisition reveals 78 per cent of all regional authorities within the NRW state have had to bring in external re-enforcements this year due to migrant criminal gangs, reports the Rheinische Post.

Migrant crime in the North Rhine - Westphalia is blamed on criminal gangs from the Lebanon, Poland, and Serbia, which have defied police attempts to infiltrate them. One NRW detective said that these 'family' ties borne of ethnicity, cultural bonds and religious affiliation make suspects reluctant to speak to police, and investigators routinely encountered a code of silence during interrogations.

But the Westphalian gangs are “certainly only the tip of the iceberg” in terms of immigrant crime, said the detective. These criminals acted with uncommon brutality towards police and ethnic German crime victims, he said. Officers complain they often leave the no - go areas "bruised and battered" having been roughed up by gangs of young men who vastly outnumber them.

As we have reported previously, German Federal politicians and the politicised federal police have issued instructions that policing must be 'racially sensitive' and nothing should be done if there is a risk it will inflame racial tensions. In other words the gangs have carte blanche to do as they please. No wonder rape crime figures in Germany are setting records month after month.

CDU deputy Gregor Golland has criticised the political establishment in NRW for allowing this state of affairs for developing, where “criminal parallel societies are seeking the upper hand, or those already solidifying”. He said police must be better equipped to deal with the problem. High-profile woman police officer Tania Kambouri remarked on the subject during an interview this month, as she discussed the lack of respect young Muslim men displayed towards their new home, its people, culture and traditions and the officers who keep the law in it.

Stating that young Muslim men proudly proclaim they "shit on Germany", Mrs. Kambouri said police had already lost control in some areas of the country. The officer also expressed concern that anyone who brought up these issues was instantly discredited by being denounced as a “Nazi”.

Boko Haram attacks In Nigeria Kill More Than 80 People

Remember just a few days ago this blog reported that the President of Nigeria had declared victory and claimed he had kept his promise to defeat the Boko Haram (Death to western education) Islamic terrorist insurrection in the west African state which is the most heavily populated on the African continent.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari says that his armed forces have met the December deadline set for defeating the jihadi terror group Boko Haram and that the Islamists are no longer capable of mounting a serious attack against the Nigerian military or population centers. The oft quoted words of Mandy Raice Davis, a prostitute involved in a 1960s political scandal spring to mind. "He would say that wouldn't he?" Unfortunately nobody seems to have told Boko Haram of President Buhari's heroic victory

Ironically, on Wednesday (23 December), just after buhari told the world he had defeated Boko Haram we learned from reliable news feeeds (Reuters and Agence France-Presse (AFP) that Boko Haram rebels carried out four attacks on villages in Niger, Chad and Cameroon, killing at least seven people including two soldiers and three civilians in Niger’s southern border town of Abadam.

And now we learn that Boko Haram Islamic extremists yesterday (28 December) struck a city, Maiduguri, the capital of the state of Borno, and a town in northeastern Nigeria with rocket-propelled grenades and multiple suicide bombers Monday, killing at least 80 people, according to eye witnesses.

At least 30 more were killed and more than 90 wounded in overnight blasts and shootouts, and an additional 20 died in a bombing outside a mosque at dawn Monday, said Muhammed Kanar, area coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency.

A pair of suicide bombers also killed at least 30 people in Madagali, a town 95 miles southeast of Maiduguri, witnesses said.

The attacks appear to be a direct challenge to President Muhammadu Buhari's declaration last week that Nigerian security forces have "technically won the war" against Boko Haram and that it is now capable of no more than suicide bombings on soft targets. As a response it is typical in style of the way Boko Haram operate.

Maiduguri, with a population of about 1 million people, hosts almost as many refugees — among the 2.5 million people driven from their homes in the 6-year-old Islamic uprising. About 20,000 people have been killed in Nigeria and hundreds others elsewhere as the insurgents have carried their conflict across its borders into Cameroon, Niger and Chad.

The military said there had been multiple attacks at four southwestern entry points to Maiduguri.

France Moves Several Steps Closer To Abolishing Free Speech

After colluding with his political opponents to deny French voters their democratic choice, the President of France, le petit crapaud Francois Hollande is now busy trying to abolish free speech so that the important issues that concern rank and file voters cannot be discussed in public or in the media.

Recently there has been an upsurge in support for political parties that promise to defend national sovereignty in European Union member states, and a public opinion backlash against the EU's 'open doors' immigration policy that has seen some European towns, cities and even smaller nations so inundated with new arrivals from outside the EU, undocumented travellers claiming they are refugees or asylum seekers (when in fact they are nothing but economic migrants and as such should go through the lengthy process of applying for residency visas and work permits, that infrastructures that have served stable and culturally homogeneous populations for decades are overwhelmed.

Political elites and supra national bureaucracies now find themselves on the back foot, even the politically correct idiotocracies of Germany and Sweden have had to reimpose border controls. It’s becoming harder to control information and ensure the fragile, synthetic, politically correct consensus holds together. News is controlled, propaganda is presented as fact and now in France, anarchic, liberty loving France, as well as in Britain, Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands, and in the USA and Australia, socialist politicians are openly discussing the abolition of free speech. This is intellectual terrorism, war by the state against the liberty of the people.

A history of lies and cover-ups, character assassinations, political slight-of-hand, false flag deceptions, covert surveillance and operations by government agencies, politicians whose loyalties are to corporate sponsors rather than voters – these things have been the modus operandi of organized crime and ruling elites for centuries.

Putting aside history’s biggest frauds though, the driving force behind this authoritarian trend is the elite's paranoid fear of losing their grip on power because the masses are well informed enough to see through the deceptions, manipulation and bullshit. By suppressing their opponents ability to criticize government policy and performance, question dodgy 'science' such as climate change and genetically modified food crops or misleading statistics such as the figures which purport to show mass immigration improves economic performance, political elites and their media poodles aim to eliminate any alternative analysis and opinion.

A significant portion of the population are so brainwashed with the post - Marxist ideology of the politically correct consensus that the media only have to apply the completely open-ended, arbitrary, and usually incorrect label of "racist", "extremist", homophobic" or "Islamophobic" to the expression of perfectly reasonable ideas in everyday speech and public discourse and a dozen "left wing" hate - mobs will spring up in the streets and on social media. The powers that be want to wind back the clock, where a pre-internet, monolithic corporate media cartel held a monopoly on ideas.

France has currently edged into the lead in this inter-governmental effort (see below), the preliminary assault began this past fall with British Prime Minster David Cameron publicly announcing on two separate occasions, that all of these so-called ‘conspiracy theories’ (anything which challenges the official orthodoxy) should be deemed “extremist” and equivalent to “terrorism” and should be purged from society on the grounds of ‘national security’. The first came with Cameron’s warped speech at the UN, and afterwards, a similar charge was made by the UK leader against anyone who dares press the issue of institutional paedophilia and child abuse.

Latest NSA Spying Scandal: White House Spied On US Congress.

During the aftermath of Ed Snowden's NSA snooping revelations which revealed the US had been spying on its closest allies for years, Barack Hussein Obama announced he had banned eavesdropping by U.S. government agencies on leaders of US allies and promised he would begin to curtail the collection of Americans' phone data in a series of limited reforms.

Below are a few key lines from a speech Obama made in January, 2014:

Our capabilities help protect not only our nation, but our friends and our allies, as well. But our efforts will only be effective if ordinary citizens in other countries have confidence that the United States respects their privacy, too. And the leaders of our close friends and allies deserve to know that if I want to know what they think about an issue, I’ll pick up the phone and call them, rather than turning to surveillance.

In other words, just as we balance security and privacy at home, our global leadership demands that we balance our security requirements against our need to maintain the trust and cooperation among people and leaders around the world.

The bottom line is that people around the world, regardless of their nationality, should know that the United States is not spying on ordinary people who don’t threaten our national security, and that we take their privacy concerns into account in our policies and procedures. This applies to foreign leaders as well.

Unsurprisingly the president was lying, and the privacy concerns of "people around the world" have clearly never once been taken into account in Obama's domestic or foreign policy decisions.

Three days before, Senator and Democratic presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders sent an email to the NSA Chief Keith Alexander asking if the NSA 'has or is currently spying on members of the US Congress or other American elected officials.' The letter defined spying as including "gathering metadata on calls made from official or personal phones, content from websites visited or emails sent, or collecting any other data from a third party not made available to the general public in the regular course of business."

The response: the National Security Agency's director, responding to questions from independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, says the government is not spying on Congress.... "Nothing NSA does can fairly be characterized as 'spying on members of Congress or other American elected officials." Alexander wrote in the letter, dated Friday and released Tuesday.

The former NSA head also lied, but that's very clear from the way he qualifies his response. Nothing NSA does can fairly be characterized as 'spying. Clearly Alexander's definition of spying is different to the one cited by Sanders.

In the latest Wall Street Journal report on the NSA's spying scandal, it is reported that even though Obama announced two years ago he would curtail eavesdropping on friendly heads of state, the spying continues and "behind the scenes, the White House decided to keep certain allies under close watch. Topping the list was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."

The spying, or counterespionage (which is not the same as spying at all - ahem), was necessary 'in order to facilitate the US-Iran nuclear negotiations and deal' which took place this summer over Netanyahu's firm objection to scuttle any lifting of the Iran embargo (an embargo which Iran had skirted for years by importing billions of dollars worth of gold from Turkey via Dubai).

That in itself would not be quite so scandalous considering the frosty diplomatic relations between the two nations in recent years, if it didn't also involve the direct and indirect spying by the NSA and the executive branch, on members of Congress ...

The National Security Agency’s targeting of Israeli leaders and officials also swept up the contents of some of their private conversations with U.S. lawmakers and American-Jewish groups. That raised fears—an “Oh-s— moment,” one senior U.S. official said—that the executive branch would be accused of spying on Congress.

White House officials believed the intercepted information could be valuable to counter Mr. Netanyahu’s campaign. They also recognized that asking for it was politically risky. So, wary of a paper trail stemming from a request, the White House let the NSA decide what to share and what to withhold, officials said. “We didn’t say, ‘Do it,’ ” a senior U.S. official said. "We didn’t say, ‘Don’t do it."

Which explains why for the past two years the Obama administration, which knew this moment was inevitable, has been maintaining an attitude of abject incompetence, claiming it had no idea anything like this happened. In fact, as the Bezos Post reported in late 2013, "Obama didn’t know about surveillance of U.S.-allied world leaders until summer "of 2013. That too was a lie.

Captured ISIS fighter says ‘trained in Turkey, ISIS thinks it’s safer than Syria’

Turkey is training Islamic State terrorists in a camp disguised as a training ground for the Free Syrian Army, a 20-year-old jihadist captured by the Kurdish YPG told Sputnik. The prisoner said Ankara’s help to the “moderate” Syrian opposition is not as innocent as portrayed.

Captured by the Kurdish People’s Protection Unit (YPG) fighters in Northern Syria in November, Abdurrahman Abdulhadi, a Syrian national-turned Daesh (Islamic State) fighter, says he was trained in Turkey before receiving his first assignment with Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

The YPG maintains external security in the three Democratic Union Party (PYD) run areas, and is fighting Islamist groups, primarily Jabhat al-Nusra and IS. The PYD, an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey, has effectively been ruling parts of Syria after government troops were forced to withdraw from the areas in 2012. With special permission from the local Kurdish authorities, Russian journalists received first-hand testimony that Turkey is “a friend” of Islamic State.

“They only appear to be enemies, however, they are friends,” the 20-year-old Abdulhadi, whose brother, Til Berak, is still fighting for IS told Sputnik Turkey. While Turkish nationals constitute only about “10 percent” of jihadists he had come across, the prisoner said Turkey is actively training Islamic State fighters.

“In August 2014, I was training in the Turkish town of Adana with one of ISIL’s Emirs,” Abdulhadi said, adding his month-long training was completed with 60 other fighters in a camp “not far from the airport.”

The captured IS soldier said military training was conducted by two officers and one of them only “spoke Turkish, so another one had to translate for him.

“Once a week we had shooting classes where we were taught to use Kalashnikovs, machine guns and other arms,” the 20 year-old said.“We were trained in Turkey because ISIL’s command thought it was safer here than in Syria because of the bombardments there.”

While the camp was officially declared to be one of the training grounds for the Free Syrian Army, the YPG prisoner says,“all sixty of those who were there were ISIL members.”

“These were Syrian citizens, many of whom arrived in Turkey in search for a job initially, but later joined Daesh,” he explained.

After completing his training, Abdulhadi was tasked with escorting Syrians who wanted to join the jihad.

The prisoner also revealed that IS is now receiving ammunition in trucks disguised as non-military cargo. He said that such low-level fighters as him have no idea where the arms come from.

“Weapons were brought to us in civilian cars, not in military ones because fighter jets might have bombed them. ISIL is now mostly using civilian vehicles. I’ve heard they put vegetables on top of boxes with ammunition, so that war planes do not spot them.”
