First There Was A Ceasefire Then There Was No Ceasefire Then There Was*

We started the news day here in Britain with an announcement from Donald Trump that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to an immediate "energy ceasefire", without providing details of its terms - here's what we know

At the time it was reported that Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky indicated he would support the ceasefire, adding "it is important that Russia support it as well"; there was no immediate comment from Russia.

But Zelensky has since denied any knowledge of the deal and accused Russia of striking energy facilities after Trump claimed a deal had been done. The Russian attack hit a major facility with glide bombs and drones on a power plant near Ukraine's second city, Kharkiv  in the country’s second city of Kharkiv, despite the surprise truce announced earlier in the day.

Meanwhile Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a fresh attack on Saudi Arabia;s Riyadh airport on Sunday, the second attack in two days after hitting the airport o Saturday killing, 13 and wounding more than 300 people at the hub.

An “unidentified projectile” struck Terminal 4 of the King Khalid International Airport, causing a fire, the ‌Saudi-led official government of  Yemen ( said, adding that air defences had also downed a cruise missile nearby.

Footage from inside the airport showed a scene of chaos, with alarms sounding as people hurried to escape. Debris was littered across the floor and a large smoke plume billowed from the roof of the building.

Saudi authorities confirmed that Sunday’s attack “resulted in injuries”, but did not specify how many.

And on the other side of the Arab peninsula the Iranian Republican Guard (IRGC,) attacked another tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, which brings the total number to at least two or possibly as many as three suffering damage in the last 24 hours, chiefly from sea mines.

A slew of videos showing tankers striking mines have emerged on social media over the weekend, at a moment attacks on international vessels by Iranian forces are surging to wartime highs..

ANYONE ELSE GET THE FEELING WE ARE IN FOR A ROUGH FEW DAYS?

Chaos Erupts In Brussels As Rubber Bullets Fired At Farmers Protesting Outside EU Parliament
Belgian police used Rubber bullets and water cannons against hundreds of farmers who had travelled from around western Europe to protest outside the EU Headquarters in the city on Thursday. The farmers threw eggs, set off fireworks, and set fire to staw bales and rubbish fires near the building while demanding that European leaders stop punishing them with more taxes, rising costs and the loonytoons 'green' policies imposed to push the continent towards the ruling bureaucrats impossible and irrational 'net zero' targets

Protest Becomes Open Rebellion In Europe As Farmers Uprising Against 'Green' Policies Spreads To Other Industries.
As this blog has been reporting since the late summer of 2022, farmers across many european Union member states including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Romania, have been gradually esclating a campaign of protest against the globalist policies beimg imposed by the EU and implemented by far left governments.

Hottest Ever UK January Day - In One Small Village
Today’s high is not due to ‘climate change’ although Warmageddonists and climate alarmists have been quick to claim it is, but is a result of a rare phenomenon known as the Fohn (or Foehn) effect (literally ‘the hairdryer effect’) that sees isolated spots near mountains hit with a narrow blast of hot air.

The Never-Ending War On Cash
In the last few decades the global elites have been pushing to shift financial activity from cash and paper cheques towards a cashless world. Physical currency is under constant attack and the majority of the world’s money supply exists in intangible electronic form. Governments and financial institutions are actively promoting a cashless society, raising concerns about individual financial freedom

New Poll Of Super - Rich Shows The Elite Hate Us Ordinary Folk
... the real enemy, is not a political party but a group that stands outside the political arena to exert its malign influence. A shocking poll exposes the utter contempt in which the elite holds the general public, with more than three quarters wanting to ration food and energy to combat ‘climate change’ and a majority wanting air travel for holidays banned.

Net Zero Is Dying Says The Manhattan Contrairian - But Is It Taking Western Civilisation With It?
We Boggart Bloggers have always been sceptical of the Climate Change scam. And as most of our readers will be aware, the scam had to be rebranded as 'Climate Change' because after a brief (and statistically insignificant,) warming trend in the 1980s and 90 the apparent warming stopped until 2016 when there was a brief blip because of an El Nino event on the Pacific region before global mean temperatures started flatlining again ...

Impartiality? The BBC’s Blind Spot
The year has got off to a poor start for the BBC Identity Hub, led by Jon Buckley. Despite their clear significance, it decided against including several stories in its coverage. This is a specialist team ostensibly covering issues around gender identity, remember. First, there was the Women’s Rights Network report on trans-identified male police officers’ rights to search women’s orifices, which was so solid it led to an apparent shift in policy ...

Sweden SCRAPPING Agenda 2030 goals - Peter Sweden
The new right-wing government [ in Sweden ] is dismantling the goals outlined by the UN. They have scrapped renewable energy plans and have been pushing for more nuclear power. In the new year, Sweden REMOVED climate taxes on fuel, reducing diesel prices by over 4 SEK per litre. After the government removed climate taxes, prices reached almost as low as 17 SEK per litre.

War On Cash To Escalate In 2024
Early last week Boggart Blog learned Globalists within the US Government and the banking and finance industry have announced a plan to launch a Digital Fiat Currency that would enable seamless transfers of funds between banks and tax jurisdictions as a major step towards banning cash. Bankers and politicians claim this is essential to protect business and private funds against the actions of hostile nations and to eliminate money laundering by organised crime networks ... Furious French Farmers Stage Shitfest Protest In Toulouse
Inspired perhaps by the protests of farming communities in Germany and Netherlands, angry French farmers gathered in the historic city of Toulouse, South - west France this week and dumped piles of farmyard manure on the steps of City Hall and in the streets and squares in fron of other public buildings. Such shitfest protests are a favourite tactic of French farmers when they want to let their government know its policies stink ...

Thousands Of Tractors Blocks Berlin Traffic Over Plan To End Diesel Subsidy
Thousands of German truck drivers, farmers, and agricultural workers parked in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin yesterday as another massive protest over the government's 'green' plans to end tax breaks on diesel fuel and subsidies to farmers prevented from getting the best out of their land by loonytoons EU 'rewilding' policies.

German Farmers target nation's vice chancellor in subsidies protest
German farmers angered by cost-saving plans impacting the country's agricultural sector blocked the EU state’s vice chancellor from disembarking a ferry on Thursday, in a protest that was criticized by both government and opposition figures. The farmer's ager was triggered by financial cutbacks imposed by EU policy on member state’s agricultural industries have.

Destroying The Planet To Save It
In the stampede towards achieving 'Net Zero' perhaps a reality check is long overdue for the delusional Green Blob and the virtue signalling politicians. In order to save the planet from a largely imaginary threat based on an ideology behind which there is very little scientific and absolutely zero empirical evidence the solutions proposed by the Green Blob, apart from being so expensive they would destroy every functioning national economy on the planet, are going to be more damaging to the planet than continuing to burn coal and gas ...

NATO Considers Stricter Sanctions As Russia Sidesteps Oil Price Cap
The European Union is considering toughening up the sanctions on evaders of the price cap on Russian oil, almost none of which now trades below the ceiling of $60 per barrel. The price cap mechanism set by the G7 and the EU says that Russian crude shipments to third countries can use Western insurance and financing if cargoes are sold at or below the $60-a-barrel ceiling ...

Germany Burns Net Zero Pledges And Fires Up Coal Generating Plants Ahead Of Winter Peak Electricity Season
On Wednesday this week Germany's coalition government approved putting coal power plants back online until the end of March 2024 to ensure energy security when natural gas supplies cannot meet demand. Though Germany has for at least a decade vied with Britain to claim leadership of Europe's ill - advised push for net zero, the Berlin government has been forced into this move ...

Even The Fully Ordained Members Of The Branch Covidian Cult Are Starting To See The Light

Will Artificial Intelligence Lead A Race Of Humandroids To A Golden Age Or Plunge Surviving Humans Into Dystopia
Around 60% of us ordinary punters in Europe, North Americans and the few other liberal democracies scattered around the world believe that AI poses a serious threat to humanity’s future, an impressive figure given the torrent of propaganda that flows past us each day aimed as persuading us to believe that Artificial Intelligence will usher in a golden age for humanity and that transhumanism, the merging of man and machine is the future for humanity ...

Government To cash In Emissions Credits To Keep Net Zero On Track While Relaxing Targets.
While many people welcomed the relaxations to Government 'Net Zero' policy announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, others pointed out that it would be illegal to abandon commitments to reducing carbon emissions as they are enshrined in law The Green Blob gleefully seized on this and attempted to undermine Sunak's small step towards common sense by claiming his initiative was merely a political ploy

Climate Scare Profiteer Bill Gates Makes Sudden U-Turn On Climate Doom Narrative
Microsoft co-founder, philanthropist, and climate alarmist Bill Gates has backtracked on 'climate doom' prophecies. The writing is on the wall for the political and financial elites, who have long championed imminent climate doom, realizing that the public sees through the charades.

"Go To Hell": Brave EU Politician Tells Globalist Politicians And Billionaire Psycopaths
As the pushback against an elitist power grab that would end democratic government and establish an authoritarian, technocratic global government struggles to gain momentum in the face of a torrent of scaremongering propaganda, Anderson, a member of Germany's AfD party, has been a consistently vociferous opponent of Klaus Schwab’s Word Economic Forum (WEF) and its ‘Great Reset’ and agenda 2030 power grab.

Will Germany be the first to ditch its net zero commitments?
Things are not going well in Germany’s bid to reach net zero by 2045, five years earlier even than Britain’s own unrealistic target. For months, the German government has been trying to devise a way to save its heavy industry from high energy prices which are sending production fleeing to Asia. Last year, chemicals giant BASF announced that it would invest in a new £10 billion plant in China, due to the cost of energy.

The World Health Organization's broad definition of health embraces physical, mental and social well-being. US-Saudi Petrodollar Deal Breaking Down as Russia Grabs Upper Hand

13 April 2023

The recently minted Saudi-Russia-China oil alliance, which paves the way for international oil trades to be settled in a currency of the vendors choice effectively spells the end of the 'Petrodollar' system, an agreement concluded in the early 1970s between Saudi Arabia, as the world's largest oil exporter, and the USA, issuer since the Bretton Woods agreement of 1945, of the main global reserve currency for international trade.

This development has the potential to cause all kinds of trouble for the US economy, which has been propped up for decades by the US$ status as reserve currency, because it enabled the USA to dictate to nations and organisations needing to buy dollars to settle their trades, what price the USA would pay for its imports and how much its trading partners would pay for US exports.. At the OPEC+ (Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Cpuntries,) meeting earlier this month the decision by member states to cut crude output, for the second time since President Joe (Where am I, what's going on,) Biden flew to Saudi Arabia last summer to plead with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to increase oil output may be just the start of the oil producers revenge, after they have watched advanced nations try and fail to find alternative ways to power their economies which would have destroyed the oil producers revenue streams.

The April 2 announcement caused oil prices to spike by about $5 a barrel. OPEC’s projections on future demand show that the cuts will widen the supply shortfall later this year as futures contracts made before sanctions were applied to Russian oil exports expire. That means oil prices will go up further, with the usual knock on effects on food and manufactured goods, inflation will rise even faster, and recession risks become greater because consumers spending more on energy  and food will have less to spend on consumer goods. Worse, in spite of sanctions Russia is still managing to sell its oil via middle men in China, Iran, India, Pakistan and the Gulf States so Russian President Vladimir Putin, meanwhile, gets a bigger war-chest to fund his attack on Ukraine.

But what does the OPEC+ move tell us about the likely future for oil prices.

In a world of shifting geopolitical alliances, Saudi Arabia is breaking away from Washington’s orbit and cosying up to China and Russia which in addition to its detente with the traditional enemy and rival regional power Iran, is very bad news for businesses and citizens in the developed nations. The Saudis set oil production levels in coordination with Russia. When they wanted to ease tensions with regional rival Iran, they turned to China to broker a deal with the US left out of the loop. Western influence over the oil cartel, in other words, is no longer absolute and appears to be waning fast.

But while The White House  expects OPEC+ members  to dance to Washington's tune, all have their own priorities, from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s ambitious plans to reinvent his economy, to Putin’s war. Any extra revenue they get from charging more for oil will help and also serve China's long term aim of replacing the US$ as reserve currency with a trading system of its own creation.

Asked about concerns that OPEC+ has twice cut production since Biden's visit to Saudi Arabia, a State Department spokesperson said the administration is focused on controlling domestic energy prices and ensuring US energy security, adding that the US views production cuts as inadvisable given ongoing market volatility.

Meanwhile, the threat of competition from US shale fields, a deterrent to price hikes in the past, has receded. And while there’s a global effort to reduce fossil-fuel use — and higher prices will accelerate that effort — the dash to drill in the last year shows that the zero-carbon economy remains in the realm of wishful thinking than an achievable target in the short term.

However for the global economy, lower oil supply and higher prices are doubly bad news. The major exporters are the big winners, of course. For importers, like most European countries, more expensive energy is a double blow — dragging on growth even as inflation rises. Bloomberg Economics’ SHOK model predicts that for every $5 increase in oil prices, US inflation will rise by 0.2 percentage point, which  at a time when the Federal Reserve is struggling to bring prices under control is not welcome.

There are three key reasons why more such shocks may be in store: The geopolitical shift, the maturing of shale, and the Saudi spending splurge.

For decades, the US-Saudi “oil for security” pact has been the foundation of of the energy market.  Symbolized by the 1945 meeting between President Franklin D. Roosevelt and King Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, aboard a US cruiser in the Suez Canal, the deal to make US$ the reserve currency later gave the US access to Saudi oil in exchange for guaranteeing the kingdom’s security.

But the pact is no longer what it once was:

In 2018, Washington Post columnist and Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

In 2019, Joe Biden — then a presidential candidate — threatened to turn Saudi Arabia into a pariah state and halt arms sales.

In 2021, early in the Biden presidency, the US government published an intelligence report assessing that Crown Prince Mohammed, the kingdom’s de facto ruler, was responsible for the Khashoggi assassination.

In October 2022, OPEC+ lowered oil production by 2 million barrels a day — less than three months after Biden flew to Riyadh seeking an increase. The White House blasted the move as “short-sighted.”

Last month, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to restore diplomatic ties in a deal brokered by China and signed in Beijing. The Saudi government has also agreed to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – a group with China and Russia at the helm, and seen as a rival to Western institutions,  as a “dialogue member”.

"The Saudis are looking for an aggressive hedge," said Jon Alterman, director of the Middle East Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington-based think tank. "Given what the Saudis see as a radically unpredictable US policy, they think it's irresponsible not to look for a hedge. And by radically unpredictable, you're looking at a US policy that changed sharply between Obama and Trump and Biden."

In the aftermath of the April 2 move, Saudi officials said it was motivated by national priorities rather than any diplomatic agenda.

“OPEC+ has succeeded now and in the past in stabilizing oil markets, and contrary to claims by Western and industrial states this has nothing to do with politics,” former Saudi oil ministry adviser Mohammad Al Sabban said, according to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper

The Truth About Coal And The Lies Of The Elite
So much for all the COP 26 banter late last year. Let me remind you. The elites all flew in on their private jets and promptly told us we’re all (royal we) getting off fossil fuels and killing coal.So how’s that turning out? The usage of coal is now at record highs:

If You Look At How Fast Global Trade Is Unravelling, You'll Get Dizzy
Governments constantly make positive noises about the health of their economies although most people who are in work have felt no improvement on the position they were in after the crash of 2008. Wagest are stangnant, employment has reduced somewhat (see below) and while the banks are printing money and the super rich are widening the gap between themselves and ordinary people faster than ever, the real situation is frightening.

Obama's Posturing As Leader Of The Battle Against Climate Change Exposed At home in the USA, where his word does still carry some weight, if only by virtue of the fact that he is still their elected leader, after seven years of waffling (and somewhat under the radar but that is coincidence), Obama at long last rejected the proposed Keystone XL pipeline which would have transported over 800,000 barrels a day of low grade (dirty) oil ...

Another Oil Exporting State Surrenders: Last Nail In Petrodollar's Coffin
While record mainland deficits covered by the petroleum sector is nothing new in Norwegian budget history, the 2016 budget did raise some eyebrows. The net inflow to the Norwegian Treasury from North Sea oil will be lower than the required amount to cover the deficit. This has never happened before and is testimony of the sea change occurring in the world of petrodollar recycling.

Fracking Truth: Mainstream media reports only corporate lies and government propaganda.
The government, energy companies and their poodles in the science academy have been trying to sell us fracking as the cheapish, cleanish but ultimately more reliable than wind and mirrors way of meeting future energy needs. Nobody believed them of course, only a complete idiot would believe that nonsense. Unfortunately the idiots believed themselves.

Is Russia Selling Its Oil To The World Through An Obscure Egyptian Port?
As this blog predicted when NATO and EU member states shot themselves in the foot by reacting to Russia's invasion of Ukraine with sanctions that prevented Russia from selling oil, gas and vital raw materials to the countries that needed them most, the NATO and EU member states, the Russians have had no problems finding alternative customers for their gas and oil and no problem getting oil into the world's commodity markets through the back door.

The Source Of Islamic Radicalism Is biggest US Ally In The Middle East
From the fall of The Ottoman Empire after World War 1, throughout the rest of the 20th century into 21st, the evolution of Islamic culture has not been rational. Rather than moving forwards with Europe and North America, the main Islamic nations seem to have slid backwards toward medievalism. If we accept that social selection (or social conditioning) plays the same role in the evolution of societies as natural selection plays in the biological sciences:

Over 4000 Civilians Have Died In Forgotten War. Saudi Arabia Threatens To Liquidate Its Treasury Holdings If Congress Probes Its Role In Sept 11 Attacks

An excellent insight into the west's relationship with the medieval mindset of Wahhabi Muslim autocracies. Why do we let the primistive mindset of these oil rich vagina mutilators dictate to us. Maybe it is because the USA has not, for atound a century been a democracy because it was hijacked by oligarchs during World War One and Saudi Arabia is not an ancient monarchy like britain but was created by an opportunist religious nut after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. And that's nor all the two nations have in common. Both like to achieve their political aims by the use of threats and terror.

Anyway, here's Tyler Durden of Zero Hedge on how, once again, the Saudi government is calling the Obama Administration to heel.

Back in January, when the market was watching in shocked silence as oil prices were crashing to decade lows and as concerns emerged that Saudi Arabia may need to commence selling its vast, if unquantified, USD reserves, we wrote a post titled "Attention Finally Turns To Saudi Arabia's "Secret" US Treasury Holdings" where we noted something very surprising: whereas we do know that Saudi Arabia is the owner of the world's third largest USD reserves ... their actual composition remains as a secret, because while the US discloses the explicit Treasury holdings of all other nations, Saudi Arabia's holdings, for some unknown reason, are not officially disclosed.

Saudi US$ Reserves (Image source: Zero Hedge)

"It’s a secret of the vast U.S. Treasury market, a holdover from an age of oil shortages and mighty petrodollars," Bloomberg wrote of Saudi Arabia’s US Treasury holdings.

"As a matter of policy, the Treasury has never disclosed the holdings of Saudi Arabia, long a key ally in the volatile Middle East, and instead groups it with 14 other mostly OPEC nations including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria,” Bloomberg goes on to note, adding that the rules are different for almost everyone else. Although Saudi Arabia's "secret" is protected by "an unusual blackout by the U.S. Treasury Department," for more than a hundred other countries, from China to the Vatican, the Treasury provides a detailed breakdown of how much U.S. debt each holds."

So who does know how much US paper the Saudis are sitting on? Well, the Saudis of course,"a handful of Treasury officials," and some bureaucrats at the Fed, Bloomberg says, noting that “for everyone else, it’s a guessing game."

Yes, a “guessing game,” but one that will very soon have profound consequences for markets and for geopolitics.

We closed with a simple, if suddenly very prophetic question:

"who would be the new patron saint of the US Treasury Department in the event the Saudis drawdown all of their reserves and decide to diversify away from USD assets... Put differently, who will monetize the US deficit if relations between Washington and Riyadh hit the skids over Iran?"

It is this question that has suddenly reemerged with a bang, and could rock the US administration to its core as what until recently was a "fringe conspiracy theory" is suddenly exposed as an all too unpleasant fact, and becomes the biggest political scandal to rock the U.S. in years, in the process maybe even crushing the friendly diplomatic relations the U.S. has held for years with its biggest Mid-East ally, Saudi Arabia.

It may be pure coincidence of course that the Saudi Arabian treasury has deciced to put pressure on Washington in this way when of the topic of September 11 has reappeared in the news recent weeks. The taboo - in official circles - topic of whether there was a "Saudi connection" in the biggest terrorist attack on US soil (Yes there was). Last weekend, out of the blue, the 60 Minutes news review broadcast an item on the "28 pages" that were classified beyond top secret in the Congressional investigative report into 9/11 - pages that allegedly confirm the Saudi connection.

A report in the New York Times earlier this week revealed Saudi Arabia has told the Obama administration and members of Congress it will sell off hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of American assets held by the kingdom if Congress passes a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible in American courts for any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Saudi officials have always denied that the global beheading capital had anything to do with the Sept. 11 attacks, and the 9/11 Commission officially found "no evidence that the Saudi government as an institution or senior Saudi officials individually funded the operation." But critics have noted that the commission’s narrow wording left open the possibility that less senior officials or parts of the Saudi government could have played a role or were selected to take the hit if Saudi involvement was confirmed.

Suspicions have lingered, not just because the conclusions of a 2002 congressional inquiry into the attacks cited evidence that Saudi officials living in the United States at the time had a hand in the plot. Just this week an independent invastigator claimed evidence existed of the detonation of three thermonuclear devices at the site (That is an unofficial report by the way, this publication mentions it as evidence of continuing doubts, we do not endorse it.)

The information contained in those 28 pages removed from the report, still has not been released publicly. It was the surprising rekindled focus on these 28 pages in recent days that suggested that something may have been afoot.

More on that New York Times Story and the fall out from it in Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is fracturing at HOT AIR
